How is a Viking oven’s heat tested?
The oven’s own temperature against a thermometer on the middle rack, run long enough to see a full cycle — a display showing 350°F only reports what the control believes.
Then each heat source: bake and broil elements are tested with a meter, and on a gas oven the igniter and the valve it opens. A broil element that glows at one end only usually means the element itself is failing.
Any code on the display is written down exactly as it appears; it narrows the search, and the reading on the part decides the repair.

What happens to a door still locked after a self-clean?
It stays shut. The lock is meant to hold until the oven has cooled down after the cycle, so a door still locked long after that points at the latch, the switch that reports where the latch is, or the control that drives it.
Those are tested with the oven cool and, where the work needs it, the power off. The latch is released through its own mechanism, never by forcing the door, which bends hinges and can crack glass. Then the cause is put right, so the next self-clean does not end the same way.

Oven work comes in two bands

The oven runs cold. Can I just set it higher?
For a meal or two, yes, if you judge by the food rather than the clock. A steady offset usually means a temperature sensor drifting or a control that has lost its calibration, and it seldom stays steady for long. The broil element glows at one end only. Can I keep using it?
